Ailsa Bay – Release 1.2 Sweet Smoke (70cl, 48.9%)

Ailsa Bay Release 1.2 Sweet Smoke is the second single malt release from the Ailsa Bay distillery, which stands on the site of the Girvan grain distillery. It is bottled at 48.9% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky pairs smoky notes with a gentle sweetness and keeps the two in balance. On the nose there is fresh wood smoke and heather, followed by oaky sweetness and caramelised apple. The palate moves between smoke and sweet vanilla, caramel and subtle fruit. The finish balances smoky dryness with oaky sweetness.
