Amahagan World Malt Whisky Edition No.4 Yamazakura Wood Finish (70cl, 47%)

This is Edition No.4 of Amahagan World Malt Whisky, a blend of malts from the Nagahama distillery in Japan, finished in Yamazakura wood. The name joins yama, meaning mountain, with sakura, the cherry blossom, and the whisky is meant to carry that idea into the glass. It is bottled at 47% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Wild cherry blossom leads the aroma, with incense, orange peel and black honey alongside, and plum comes through as well. On the palate there is brown sugar and orange peel, followed by a soft, elegant sweetness. The finish is long and clean, with a gentle astringency like tea.
