Amahagan Edition Peated is a Japanese blended malt made by the Nagahama distillery in Shiga prefecture. The name is an anagram of Nagahama. It was created as a Japanese take on peat, with part of the distillate peated, and it matures in American oak casks. It is bottled at 47% ABV.
The nose is delicate smoke with malted cereal, vanilla and honey, and a light floral note. The palate is supple and malty, with smoke building gradually alongside blond caramel and yellow fruit. The finish is lasting, with gentle smoke, vanilla, light wood and a touch of spice at the very end.
