Amahagan World Malt Edition No. 5 is a blended malt that combines Japanese and foreign whiskies, from the small Nagahama distillery in Japan. The Amahagan name is Nagahama spelled backwards.
This edition was finished in sherry casks and bottled at 47% ABV in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour.
The nose is ripe fruit and fresh-baked apple, with brown sugar, dried citrus and grated leather. On the palate there is strawberry jam, maple syrup and raisin, ending sweet. The finish is long and dry, with gentle spice from the cask.
