Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG from Dal Forno Romano. It is made with close attention to grape selection and vinification, giving a wine of notable intensity, complexity and longevity. The colour is deep garnet, almost impenetrable. The nose offers ripe black fruit such as blackberries and plums, with chocolate, coffee, vanilla and spice notes from barrique ageing. On the palate it is powerful and concentrated, with robust yet velvety tannins and a masterful balance of acidity and alcohol. Balsamic and mineral notes lead to a very long finish. It suits intense, structured dishes such as roast red meats, game and aged cheeses, and it also lends itself well to ageing.
