Ampersand Malus is an American rye whiskey from Ampersand Spirits, finished in Calvados casks from Normandy. It is made with 51% rye whiskey and bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle.
The Calvados finish brings French apple brandy together with the rye, giving a whiskey that sits between the two traditions.
The nose is fresh apple and pear with cinnamon, vanilla and soft rye spice. On the palate come caramelised apple, toasted oak and warm baking spices over a dry rye backbone. The finish is medium to long, with lingering orchard fruit, gentle oak and a hint of pepper.
