Ampersand Vinea is an 8 year old rye whiskey in a 750ml bottle, made from a high-rye mash bill and bottled at 56.5% ABV. It spends eight years in new American oak before a finish in Cognac or Tokaji wine casks.
The oak brings caramel and depth, and the wine casks add honeyed fruit, golden raisin and toasted spice.
The nose combines rye spice with orange peel, apricot, fig and golden honey. The palate is full-bodied, with cinnamon, toffee, caramel, peach, sultana and candied citrus. The finish is long and warming, fading into oak, dried fruit and a little sweetness.
