An 8 year old straight rye from Ampersand, made from a high-rye mash bill and finished in red wine casks. It is bottled at 48% ABV in a 75cl decanter-style bottle.
The wine casks add dark berries, oak and tannins to the spicy rye character. The nose has toasted rye grain, dark cherry, baking spice and leather. The palate opens with spicy rye, then moves to blackberry, plum, vanilla and dark chocolate. The finish is long and warming, with wine-soaked oak and sweet spice.
