Ampersand Vinea is an 8 year old rye whiskey bottled at cask strength, 56.5% ABV, in a 75cl bottle. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and the whiskey was aged in new charred American oak barrels.
It is finished in Hungarian Tokaji wine casks, which add sweetness and fruit to the spicy rye core. This is a limited edition.
The nose combines orange peel, baking spice and rye grain with apricot, fig and golden honey. The palate is full-bodied and spicy, with cinnamon, toffee and caramel alongside white peach, sultana and candied citrus. The finish is long and warming, with oak, dried fruit and a touch of sweet wine glaze.
