Amrut – Intermediate Sherry Single Malt (75cl)

This is an Indian single malt from Amrut, matured in a three-stage sequence. It begins in ex-bourbon barrels, moves to an intermediate sherry cask, and after a short rest returns to ex-bourbon barrels for a longer maturation. It comes in a 75cl bottle. The route through sherry is meant to bring in sherry character while keeping the whisky's own character intact. The nose is port, candied cherries and vanilla, with a hint of strawberry jam. On the palate come cinnamon, nutmeg and orange peel, with subtle anise beneath. The finish is long, dry and oaky, with a lingering sherry influence.
