Amrut Peated is an Indian single malt bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. Amrut recently raised its whiskies to this strength, and this is its peated expression, made with malt peated to 24 ppm.
The nose is unusually dry peat, likened to peat smoke absorbed by an old leather armchair, with a hint of citrus. On the palate, molassed sugar arrives first, then the peat builds, growing drier and spicier while the molasses holds on.
The finish is clean and clear, with butterscotch and vanilla wrapped around the phenols.
