Amrut – Single Malt Cask Strength (75cl, 61.8%)

Amrut Cask Strength is an Indian single malt whisky bottled at 61.8% ABV, which is 123.6 proof, in a 75cl bottle. The nose is described as classic Amrut, with bourbon-like notes alongside rich barley, rather like a caramelised biscuit dunked in coffee, plus a little spice. The palate has a bitter-sweet character in which oak and barley sit closely together, with soft oils giving way to blood orange citrus and then something buttery. The finish is long, with layers of bourbon and butteriness from the oak, and a trace of dark sugar and cocoa.
