anCnoc 12 Year Old is a Highland single malt from Knockdhu distillery in Aberdeenshire, bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It was matured for twelve years in first-fill and refill American oak ex-bourbon casks.
The malt takes its name from Knock Hill, which overlooks the distillery; anCnoc is Gaelic for 'the hill'. Knockdhu was established in 1894 and is owned by Inver House.
The nose is soft and aromatic, with honey, lemon, honeysuckle and fresh barley. The palate starts sweet with appetising fruitiness, then moves to Madeira, winter spice, mocha and toasted granary bread. The finish is medium, with oak and barley in balance.
