anCnoc 24 Year Old (75cl, 46%)

anCnoc 24 Year Old is a Highland single malt from Knockdhu distillery in Aberdeenshire, first released in 2015. It spent twenty-four years maturing in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, and is bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill filtered and has no added colour. The bourbon casks bring vanilla sweetness, while the sherry casks add dried-fruit character. The nose is dense, sweet and spicy, with Christmas cake, vanilla, set toffee and a squeeze of lemon. On the palate come candied orange slices, warm honey and worn leather. The finish is of old leather and tannic oak, with a hint of orange peel.
