anCnoc Rascan is a peated Highland single malt from Knockdhu in Aberdeenshire, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It was the distillery's first peated expression. A rascan is a tool for cutting turf.
The barley is peated to 11.1 parts per million, and the whisky matured in American oak ex-bourbon hogsheads. It is bottled at natural colour and is not chill-filtered.
Honey and green apple lead the nose, with orange and lemon accents. The palate brings sweet, spicy vanilla and honey, with toffee, subtle spice and a smooth leathery note. The finish is floral and gently smoky, the peat arriving late and fading softly.
