This is a 10 year old cask strength Kentucky straight bourbon from Angel's Envy, the 14th Edition release, bottled at 61.3% ABV (122.6 proof) in a 75cl bottle. It was aged in new American oak and then finished in ruby port wine barrels.
The bottle carries an engraved cork and a dark metal medallion that marks the October 2010 decision behind the Angel's Envy name. Resting the bourbon for 15 to 20 minutes, or adding a little water, is said to open it up further.
The nose offers sweet cinnamon toast and creamy nougat. On the palate come baklava, ripe apricot and crème brûlée, with a cognac-like warmth and a touch of grains of paradise. The finish brings rum raisin cake and a port-laced sweetness.
