Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Barrel is a Kentucky bourbon bottled at 43% in a 37.5cl bottle. Mature bourbon is moved into used Port barrels for a further four to seven months, and the Port residue adds richness to the spirit.
The original recipe is a blend of bourbons bought and contracted from other distilleries. The brand was founded by Lincoln Henderson, creator of Woodford Reserve, and his son Wes carries it on. It now also has its own distillery in Louisville.
The nose is vanilla with raisins, maple syrup and toasted nuts. On the palate there are vanilla, ripe fruit, toast and bitter chocolate, and the finish is clean and sweet, with a hint of Madeira that fades slowly.
