Angel's Envy Caribbean Rum Cask Finished Rye is a rye whiskey bottled at 50% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, from a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley.
The whiskey is then finished for up to 18 months in Plantation rum casks from Maison Ferrand. The casks began as American oak, were used to age cognac, and then held Caribbean rum.
The nose offers caramel, maple sugar, violets and birch beer. On the palate are butterscotch, cooked banana, allspice, nutmeg and clove, with chocolate syrup and gingerbread. The finish is long and warming, with burnt brown sugar, liquorice and raisin.
