This is the second edition of Angel's Envy Cask Strength Rye, a Kentucky rye whiskey in a 75cl bottle.
The rye was distilled between 2013 and 2015 and matured in new American white oak barrels. It then spent up to four further years in Caribbean rum casks, for a total of ten years of ageing. The rum casks add molasses depth and tropical notes while leaving the rye spice in place.
The nose offers medjool date, buttery brown sugar and vanilla bean. The palate has candied ginger, rye spice and rum-soaked pound cake, with a hint of mint. The finish brings molasses, grassy sugarcane, tropical fruit and oak tannins.
