Angel's Envy Port Barrel Finished Bourbon (37.5cl, 43.3%)

A Kentucky straight bourbon from Angel's Envy in Louisville, bottled at 43.3% in a 375ml bottle. The whisky is aged for up to six years, then blended in small batches of eight to twelve barrels. Each batch is then finished for a further three to six months in 60-gallon ruby port barrels made from French oak. The mashbill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley. The nose brings vanilla, raisins, ripe berries and maple syrup, with toasted oak and roasted nuts underneath. On the palate come vanilla, ripe fruit, dark chocolate, dried fig and baking spice. The finish is medium to long, with lingering sweetness, bitter chocolate and a trace of dried fruit.
