Angel's Envy Rye is a rye whiskey matured in new American oak barrels, then finished for up to 18 months in Caribbean rum casks. The rum casks were chosen after sampling more than 100 rums, to suit the spice of the rye. It is bottled at 50% ABV.
The nose has caramel candy, maple sugar, vanilla bean and hazelnut, with citrus peel and seasoned oak. On the palate, dark sugar, toffee and soft tropical fruit sit over rye spice of white pepper and clove, with toasted oak.
The finish moves from rum sweetness to dry oak, with dried fruit, baking spice and a trace of liquorice root.
