Man O' Sword 2016 Sherry Cask is a single cask Annandale single malt from the Lowlands, bottled at 59.5% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the Man O' Sword range, with the late Dr Jim Swan named as whisky maker.
The cask began as an American oak hogshead seasoned with Oloroso sherry for two years, and was filled in 2016. In 2019 the whisky was moved into refill hogsheads to slow its maturation, giving a five-year-old malt with natural colour and no chill filtration.
The nose offers steeped dried fruit, treacle, butter and toffee, with a little tobacco late on. The palate opens with sweet tobacco, fresh herbs and spice, then buttery sweetness, and the finish is medicinally sweet.
