Ardbeg – 19 Year Old Traigh Bhan Batch 6 (70cl, 46.2%)

An Islay single malt from Ardbeg, aged 19 years and bottled at 46.2% in a 70cl bottle. This is Batch 6 of the Traigh Bhan series. It matured in a combination of Oloroso sherry casks and American oak casks. The sherry wood brings fruity, sweet notes, while the American oak adds touches of vanilla and caramel. The whisky is of natural colour and not chill-filtered. The palate is described as slightly oily, moving to an intense minty sweetness, then creosote, tarry soap and the smoke of a bonfire's embers. Smoked pineapple and toasted bread accompany dark chocolate, mint cream and camphor.
