This is a limited edition Ardbeg single malt from 1978, bottled in 1998 at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose shows bourbon oak alongside peat, with the malt overshadowed by the strength of both. On the palate it is subtle and poised, with a rich, almost grassy malt, well-judged oak, and hints of roast coffee and hickory. The finish is balanced and deep in character, and the sweetness and complexity build the longer it stays on the palate.
