Ardbeg 1999 Galileo is a 12-year-old Islay single malt from the distillery's Galileo series, bottled in 2012 at 49% ABV as a limited edition. It is non-chill filtered and was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-Marsala wine casks. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
The nose brings ripe peaches, dried apricots and blackberries with cinnamon, ginger, Christmas cake and toffee over oak. On the palate, tangy citrus meets dark chocolate, toasted almonds and honey, in a velvety, oily texture with a hint of sandalwood and tea-like tannins. The finish is long, with smoky vanilla, leather and spice.
