This Ardbeg 23 year old was bottled by Cadenhead's for its 175th Anniversary Open Day in May 2017. It was distilled in 1993 at the Islay distillery, bottled in 2017 and matured in a hogshead. The colour is deep amber.
Peat smoke leads the nose, with ripe orchard fruits, briny sea air and a touch of vanilla. The palate brings smoky peat, honeyed malt and toffee, then spices and dark chocolate. The finish is smoky, with the gentle warmth of oak.
