Ardbeg 25 Year Old is a single malt bottled at 45% ABV. It is the oldest Scotch whisky release the distillery had issued to date, and it joined the brand's permanent range in the U.S. market. The spirit was distilled in the 1990s, when Ardbeg produced only a trickle of new make each year.
The nose combines smoked cream, peppermint and toffee with fennel, pine resin, earthy bonfire and candle wax. The palate starts peppery, then turns to sherbet lemon sweetness with hints of carbolic soap and tar. The finish brings cream, fudge and antiseptic notes.
