Ardbeg Alligator Untamed Release is an Islay single malt from Ardbeg, released in 2011 and bottled at 51.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Part of the whisky was matured in new American oak casks, charred so heavily that the wood surface split and cracked. That cracked, scaly look gave the release its alligator name.
It is typically described as having intense peat smoke alongside charred oak, spice and citrus sweetness, with a rich, lingering smokiness.
