Ardbeg An Oa is an Islay single malt in the distillery's permanent range, bottled at 46.6% (93.2 proof) in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The whiskies mature separately in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, virgin charred oak and ex-bourbon casks, then marry in the distillery's French oak Gathering Vat before bottling. The name comes from the Mull of Oa, the headland at the southern tip of Islay.
The nose is smoky and sweet, with aniseed, treacle, dark chocolate and orange. The palate brings milk chocolate, nutty toffee and a gentle herbal note. The finish is smooth, closing on tar and dark fruit.
