Ardbeg – An Oa (70cl, 46.6%)

This is Ardbeg An Oa, an Islay single malt bottled at 46.6% in a 70cl bottle. It combines spirit aged in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, heavily charred virgin oak and first-fill bourbon casks, all married in a large French oak vat. The name comes from the Mull of Oa, on the Kildalton coast in the south west of Islay. It is described as rounded and smoky, with notes of toffee, aniseed, date and banana, and a smooth finish.
