Ardbeg Anthology The Unicorn's Tale is a 14 year old Islay single malt, the first release in the distillery's age stated Anthology collection. It is bottled at 46% abv in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered and with natural colour.
The whisky is a marriage of ex-bourbon casks and Madeira casks. The bourbon wood provides vanilla, soft barley and peat, while the Madeira adds dried fruit, a faint nuttiness and a perfumed lift.
The nose combines peat smoke over soft barley with dried fruit sweetness. On the palate come powerful smoke and zesty lime, with burning cedarwood in the distance. The finish is smoky, with menthol, clove and camphor.
