Ardbeg Ardcore Punk Rock Edition is the 2022 Ardcore release from Islay, bottled at 46% ABV as a limited edition. It is made from deeply roasted dark malted barley, a malt not used before in an Ardbeg release. The name nods to "Punk Ellen", an old nickname for Islay's harbour.
Pale gold in colour, the nose offers marmite, burnt toast and black chicory coffee, with Ardbeg's herbal notes, bonfire smoke and molasses behind. The palate is spicy and smoky, with cocoa, dark chocolate, peanut toffee and grilled lime, ending in a sweet, lingering finish of toffee, soot and smoke.
