Ardbeg Ardcore The Ultimate Taste Buds Punktured is a limited edition from 2022, an Islay single malt matured in ex-bourbon casks. Ardbeg was founded on Islay in 1815 by John McDougall.
It is made with heavily toasted black malt. The Ardcore name nods to Port Ellen, Islay's main port, which was nicknamed Punk Ellen in the 1970s, and gives the bottle its punk-rock look.
The nose offers toasted bread, coffee and charcoal. The palate is smoky and firm, with dark chocolate, aniseed, biscuits and caramel. The finish is smoky, with leather.
