Ardbeg Auriverdes is an Islay single malt released for Ardbeg Day 2014, in a 70cl bottle at 49.9% ABV. The name plays on the gold spirit (auri) inside the green bottle (verdes).
It was matured with toasted cask lids, which add roasted, sweeter notes to Ardbeg's peat smoke.
The nose is tarry peat smoke and herbs with a hint of mocha. The palate moves from coffee grounds and earthy smoke to smoked root vegetables, maple-cured bacon and hot-smoked salmon. The finish is long, with smoky vanilla to the end.
