Ardbeg BizarreBQ is a 2023 limited edition Islay single malt with no age statement, bottled at 50.9% ABV in February 2023 in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
It was created by Ardbeg Master Distiller Dr Bill Lumsden with the barbecue pitmaster Christian Stevenson, known as DJ BBQ. The whisky was matured in double charred oak casks, toasted Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and experimental barbecue casks, which are heavily charred barrels made with an old-fashioned brazier.
The nose combines charcoal and soot with smoky wood, herbs and spices, treacle toffee, hickory smoked ham and cinnamon-dusted espresso.
