This is Ardbeg 'Blaaack', a 20th Anniversary Limited Edition single malt bottled in 2020 at 46%. It marks the 20th anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee, the distillery's loyal following, and was matured in Pinot Noir wine casks from New Zealand. The name nods to Ardbeg's reputation as the black sheep among Islay distilleries.
The nose has ripe apple, pear and apricot with lemon zest, cinnamon and thyme over oak. Honey, vanilla and roasted nuts lead the palate, with a velvety, oily texture. The finish is medium to long, with toasted oak and sweet vanilla.
