Ardbeg Corryvreckan is a heavily peated Islay single malt, distilled at Ardbeg on the island of Islay and made from 100% malted barley. It takes its name from the whirlpool between the islands of Scarba and Jura.
The spirit matures mainly in ex-bourbon barrels, with a portion of new French oak. It is bottled at around 57% ABV.
The nose is smouldering peat and tar with brine, dark cherries, blackcurrant and vanilla. The palate opens with peat smoke and charred wood, then dark fruit, espresso, liquorice and pepper. The finish is long and peaty, with black coffee, smoked salmon, salted caramel and ash.
