Ardbeg Corryvreckan is an Islay single malt bottled at 57.1% abv, partly matured in new French oak casks.
It takes its name from the Gaelic Coirebhreacain, the cauldron of the speckled seas, a great whirlpool between the islands of Jura and Scarba to the north of Islay.
The nose is powerful, with chocolate, blackcurrant and black cherries, then bacon, leather and Tabasco, and later lavender, violet and pine needles. The palate is a dense mix of dark fruits and peppery spice with a touch of aniseed, and the long finish carries Tabasco, coffee and black cherries.
