Ardbeg Drum Committee Release is an Islay single malt made for the Feis Ile 2019 Islay whisky festival. It is the first Ardbeg to be finished in rum casks. The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon casks, then moved to ex-rum casks from the Americas, and bottled at cask strength.
It is dark gold. The nose has smoked apple, pineapple, ripe banana, pine resin and woodsmoke, with cocoa, cinnamon, spiced dates and lavender. The palate is peppery and smoky, with tar, creosote, dark chocolate, clove, liquorice and ginger. The finish is smoky and spicy, ending on sweet coffee liqueur.
