Ardbeg – Galileo

Ardbeg Galileo is an Islay single malt matured in ex-Marsala wine casks and first-fill bourbon casks. It pays tribute to the first whisky in space. In 2011 a sample of Ardbeg new make was sent to the International Space Station, to find out how weightlessness affects maturation and the interaction between wood and spirit. Peat and tar lead the nose, with butter toffee and exotic fruit. The palate is oily, moving to sweet, creamy caramel, with apricot, banana, cinnamon, clove, aniseed and peat smoke. The finish is long, smoky and sweet.
