Ardbeg Kelpie is a 2017 release made for Ardbeg Day, a limited edition single malt from Islay. Its maturation took place in virgin oak casks, with the wood grown, felled and seasoned around the Black Sea. This gives an Ardbeg with oily peat, dark chocolate and smoked fish. Herbal aromas lead the nose, and pine resin and smoky fudge appear once water is added. The palate is peppery, bringing clove oil, coffee, hickory wood, seaweed and smoked fish.
