A committee preview release of Ardbeg Perpetuum, issued to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Ardbeg Distillery. Sherry casks are part of its recipe.
The nose is mellow and rich, with tar, soot and pine resin, then dark chocolate, treacle toffee, coffee grounds and a distant nutty, oaky note. The palate brings intense peat smoke, smoky bacon, cinnamon and nutmeg, softened by creamy vanilla and milk chocolate. The finish is very long, with linseed oil, creosote and tar, all gentle and understated.
