Ardbeg Scorch is the distillery's 2021 Festival Release, a single malt from Islay bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and comes in a fiery Scorch box.
The nose is nutty, spicy and intense, with aniseed, patchouli and smoky, herbal notes. A little water brings out Ardbeg's familiar fennel, herb and pine character.
On the palate it is oily and spicy, with antiseptic lozenges, tar, liquorice and clove pepper, then sweet smoke like briar or sandalwood. The finish is long, subtle, sooty and tarry.
