Smokehead is an Ian Macleod bottling of Ardbeg, sold without the distillery name on the label for trademark reasons. This Rum Cask edition is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was first matured in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in Caribbean rum casks.
The nose is clearly smoky, spicy and maritime, with burnt fruit growing stronger the longer it is nosed. The palate brings exotic fruit, smoked bacon, grill fire and a fresh sea breeze. The long finish carries smoke with a little fruit, banana, honey and a touch of lemon.
