Ardbeg – Smokiverse (70cl)

Ardbeg Smokiverse is a limited-edition Islay single malt, in a 70cl bottle, made to mark a quarter-century of whisky innovation. It was released as part of the annual Ardbeg Day festivities. The distillery used a high gravity mashing technique, with less water in the mash and a much greater quantity of grain, to intensify its usual character. The nose has thick smoke with ripe pineapple and hints of papaya. The palate is rich and textured, with muscovado sugar, toasted sourdough and earthy spice. The finish carries lingering peat smoke, tropical fruit and a warming, oily depth.
