Ardbeg – Spectacular (70cl, 46%)

Ardbeg Spectacular is a special edition of Islay single malt, bottled for the Fèis Ìle festival, held on the island each spring. It matured in both port and bourbon casks, and is bottled at 46% without chill filtration. Bill Lumsden describes it as totally weird and absolutely spectacular. The colour is deep gold. The nose is big, with familiar Ardbeg smoke, juicy red fruit, floral notes, mint and burnt almonds. The palate is full and oily, with a pleasing sweetness, toffee, sea salt and baked apples.
