Ardbeg Spectacular is the 2024 Ardbeg Day bottling, an Islay single malt released on 1 June 2024 for Feis Ile and bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
It is the first time the distillery has matured spirit in port wine casks. That spirit is married with Ardbeg from ex-bourbon casks, and the release follows the Dark Circus theme.
The nose is perfumed, with lavender, vetiver, incense, antique leather and almond, and water brings out woodsmoke, damp peat moss and menthol. The palate is viscous, with peat smoke, eucalyptus, minty chocolate, toffee and smoked pecans. The finish is long, with salted caramel and cooling menthol.
