Ardbeg Spectacular is an Islay single malt released for Ardbeg Day on 1 June 2024, with a circus theme. It was matured in ex-bourbon and port casks and bottled at 46%, with natural colour and without chill-filtration.
The nose opens with lavender, vetiver, incense, leather and almond, and with a little water brings woodsmoke, damp peat moss and menthol. The palate has a thick texture with salty, sweet and spicy notes: peat smoke, eucalyptus oil, mint chocolate and toffee, with smoked pecans, creosote and tar. Pear crumble and soft toffee fade in the background. The finish is long, with a touch of salt.
