Ardbeg – Spectacular (46%)

Ardbeg Spectacular is a limited edition Islay single malt, bottled at 46% and matured in a combination of Port wine casks and ex-bourbon casks. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The Port casks bring fruity sweetness to the peat smoke and maritime character of Islay. The nose is floral, with lavender, violet, resinous incense, beeswax and leather, followed by gentle peat smoke and almonds. On the palate come ripe pear and sultanas, mint chocolate, sea salt and cinnamon alongside the smoke. The finish is long, with molasses, dry soot, fresh mint and a touch of salt.
