Ardbeg Supernova is the 2014 Committee Release, an ultra-heavily peated Islay single malt matured in ex-bourbon casks. This bottling is at 60% ABV.
It is pale straw-gold in colour and known for its smoke, set against bright citrus and sweet malt.
The nose is medicinal, with bonfire ash, scorched driftwood, iodine, lemon oil, grapefruit zest and vanilla. The palate is oily and smoky, with charcoal dust, burning heather, vanilla cream, honeyed malt, lime peel, pepper and smoked seaweed. The finish is long, with peat ash, charcoal, iodine and salted citrus, and a lingering sweetness of vanilla and barley sugar.
